CBD Oil

The CBD Connection

WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?

Cannabinoids, or CBD, are the active components of Cannabis.  All sorts of cannabinoids exist within the Cannabis plant, each having different, yet significant effects to cells of both humans and our little furry friends.  Cannabinoids are present in the flowers of Cannabis and mimic naturally occurring compounds the body already produces, called endocannabinoids.  These endocannabinoids activate and maintain the body's internal balance and overall health.
Within this endocannabinoids system (ECS), the human body has receptor sites called CB1, located primarily in the central nervous system (CNS) and CB2, located throughout the rest of the body, which the cannabinoids will bind to when they are consumed, playing an important role in communication at the cellular level, primarily, immune response.

TYPES OF CANNABINOIDS

CBD (cannabidiol)
  • Is only one of more than 85 chemical compounds in cannabinoids (in Cannabis)
  • The second most abundant ingredient in the Cannabis structure, which usually represents up to 40% of the plant’s extracts
  • Contains non-psychoactive properties
  • Promotes relaxation
  • Has many health benefits
  • Analgesic (pain relieving)
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-psychotic
  • Antioxidant
  • Antidepressant
  • Anxiolytic (anti-anxiety)
  • Antiemetic (anti-nausea)

CBDa

  • The acidic precursor of CBD
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-proliferative (inhibits cell growth) traits
  • Currently being researched to examine CBDa on certain types of cancer

CBG (Cannabigerol)

  • Affects the brain by inhibiting the uptake of GABA, a brain chemical that determines how much stimulation a neuron needs to cause a reaction
  • Decreases anxiety
  • Decreases muscle tension

CBN (Cannabinol)

  • Analgesic (pain relieving)
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Powerful sedative

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

  • Psychoactive Cannabinoid found in Cannabis
  • Higher concentrations are found in marijuana than in hemp
  • When extracted from hemp, less than 0.3% THC is present in the final product (allowable by law)

ISOLATE

  • An isolated suspension of CBD so that no THC is present
  • Safest option for workers who may be subject to random drug screening since no THC is present
